Meet Our Executive Board

  President: Carol Stymiest

Carol has worked in the Financial Services industry in both Canada and the US. Since arriving in the Triangle she has been very involved in the community and has served on the Board of several area non-profits and is a graduate of the Leadership Raleigh program. She is also the founder and President of the Canadian Business Association of North Carolina.



Secretary: Jennifer Parser


Jennifer is an experienced multi-lingual attorney at the law firm of Poyner Spruill, LLP where she handles all immigration matters, including EB-5 green card investor petitions. Jennifer additionally advises on I-9 compliance and E-Verify, and oversees and responds to employer-generated and Immigration and Custom Enforcement-related audits. A summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Dartmouth College with a Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University and holding several certificates in European Union and public international law, Jennifer is admitted to the bars of New York and North Carolina. She has studied in the United States, Australia, Switzerland, France and the United Kingdom.



Treasurer: Meg Deal


Meg is the leader of the international tax group for SAS Institute Inc., the world's largest privately-held software company. She oversees all aspects of the Company’s international tax function including international tax planning, compliance, and the development and implementation of tax-efficient global policies. Before joining SAS, Meg was a tax partner with Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP, where she served as the co-leader of the International Assignment Services Team. She worked in London during 1995 to develop her international skills. Meg graduated Magna Cum Laude from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. She received her Master’s Degree in Accounting with a Concentration in Taxation from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Meg is a member of the AICPA and the NCACPA. She is a frequent speaker on Expatriate and Foreign National Taxation in the business community.


  Marketing Chair: Emma Van Sant

Emma is a Marketing Communication Specialist who graduated from the University of South Carolina, Moore School of Business with a BA in International Business and Marketing with a minor in Chinese language studies. She has recently returned to the Triangle after working as the Communications Manager for Sourcefabric z.u. for two years in Berlin, Germany. She currently runs her freelance marketing business for the small business community in the Triangle. She is actively involved in the community an HQ Raleigh community member and a youth mentor with the Alexander YMCA Community Hope program. 



Membership Chair: Mengyuan (Yuan) Farley (方梦圆), CPA

Yuan is a senior associate in RSM's Raleigh office and an active member of RSM’s China Desk. She provides financial statement audit to a variety of clients in manufacturing and distribution, franchise, nonprofit organizations, retirement communities, etc. She has serviced a Chinese parent company with audit work for its US subsidiary, and she has participated in multiple proposal translation work for Chinese prospects. She has been actively involved in community services, such as raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and The Arc of the Triangle, participating in Canes 5K, and volunteering in CPA Day of Service.




Programming Co-Chair: Ginie Lynch

Ginie has served as the Director of Communications at the Society for Financial Education and Professional Development Inc. since August 2017, and she was previously a Public Affairs Specialist for the organization. She is a graduate of UNC with a BA in Latin American Studies, and she is fluent in Spanish. She received her MA in Print Journalism and Public Affairs from the American University.

 
Programming Co-Chair: Jennifer Thomas

Jennifer has lived in many countries all over the world and, most recently, in Italy for 12 years. The focus of her advanced studies has been International Business and cross-cultural business awareness. She has dedicated much of her professional life to helping business people cross cultural barriers and educating communities on raising cultural literacy and sensitivity. Although new to the Raleigh area, she has been working as Raleigh Refugee Programs Coordinator for the last two years and has been heavily involved with refugees and associated organizations around the Triangle. In addition, she is the Director of Business Development at Wake Tech Corporate and Business Solutions.



Public Affairs/Government Chair: Matty Lazzo-Chadderton

Over the past 15 years, Matty has dealt with governmental and civic areas of North Carolina, working ten years as Director for Hispanic and Latino Affairs for the President Pro Tempore, NC Senator Marc Basnight. She also held the position of Institutional Public Affairs Officer for the Consulate General of Mexico in Raleigh (2011), and later served as Director for Hispanic and Latino Affairs for the NC Governor (2012). Matty’s public service transcends the Hispanic community, as she is also an active board member of the Public School Forum of NC, the Burroughs Wellcome Fund SSEP Advisory Committee, the Industry Advisory Council at the Center for Sustainable Tourism, Eastern North Carolina University. She proudly owns Lazo-Chadderton, LLC., her consulting firm in government, Hispanic and international affairs, as well as disabilities.




Board Member at Large: Kathleen Henry

Kathleen is an Economic Development Manager with Wake County Economic Development's business recruitment and expansion team. Kathleen manages all aspects of the business recruitment and expansion process. She also leads the organization's foreign direct investment initiative with the goal of recruiting more foreign-owned companies to the region. Previously, Kathleen worked for World Trade Center Savannah, an international economic development organization in Savannah, Georgia where she served as the Manager of Research and Trade Development, helping regional companies with their international growth strategies as well and managing the planning, marketing and execution of inbound trade missions and inbound trade and investment development efforts for the region.
